It is third time lucky as FC Halifax Town prepare to finally play Macclesfield Town in the Buildbase FA Trophy 1st Round on Tuesday night.
Following postponements due to a frozen pitch back in December, the Shaymen will finally be able to host the league leaders.
The tie will see Halifax, who won the trophy 2 seasons ago, play last year’s runners-up.
While the side prepare for the encounter, here is some news from around the Vanarama National League.
We begin with Billy Heath’s opponent in the dugout as The Silkmen’s manager John Askey has been named December’s Manager of the Month.
An almost perfect festive period saw Macclesfield receive a glutton amount of points, more than any other side during the month.
Bar a 1-1 draw away to Bromley, the Moss Rose outfit has been victorious in every game they have played in December, which included teams competing for play-off positions such as Wrexham and Sutton United.
Their form has seen them create a 6-point gap at the summit of the league table.
Staying in the north west, it has also been a productive Christmas period for Connor Jennings, as the Tranmere Rovers man has scooped the Player of the Month award.
The 26-year-old had not scored in the league this season but soon found his shooting boots as he hit the target on 6 occasions during December, and was central to Micky Mellon’s side’s unbeaten run during December.
The 4 matches played by the Prenton Park club saw them fire in 14 goals in 4, conceding only 2 in that period, resulting in them shooting up the table following their less than impressive start to the campaign.
Meanwhile, Aldershot Town have admitted to rejecting advances for their manager from a Football League side.
Gary Waddock, as well as his assistant James Rowe, has been the subject of interest from a club higher up the English pyramid.
‘This is not the first time that a Football League club has recognised their qualities, and it won’t be the last time, but we want to keep them at Aldershot Town for as long as possible,’ chairman Shahid Azeem told The Shots’ official website.
Waddock also insisted he was happy to remain in the dugout at the EBB Stadium.
‘I’m the manager of Aldershot Town and I’m very proud of that fact. Shahid was very up front and honest with me – he said that the Club turned it down straight away,’ he explained.
‘We’ve got a lot of work to do here and I’m happy that the chairman turned it down.’
AFC Fylde have brought in defender Sam Stubbs on a month-long loan from Wigan Athletic.
The 19-year-old, who has been part of the Sky Bet League One leaders’ youth system since he was 14, has already spent time at League Two’s Crewe Alexandra.
The son of Everton legend Alan Stubbs will be hopping to build upon the 8 appearances he made at Gresty Road.
And finally, Solihull Moors will keep Kwame Thomas and Max O’Leary on loan for an extended period.
Thomas, who was signed from Sky Bet League Two side Coventry City, has scored once for The Moors and will remain at the club until mid-February.
With 3 clean sheets in 6 outings for O’Leary, the Bristol City goalkeeper has impressed enough to be offered the chance to stay at Damson Park until the end of the season.
