FC Halifax Town U19s came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw away to second-placed South Shields in Sunderland.
James Sunderland scored the equaliser in the second-half for Halifax, the first goal South Shields have conceded this season, after Kelvin Thear after putting them ahead in the first-half.
The North-East side could have been two goals in front at half-time after they missed a penalty in the opening 45 minutes before Thear put the hosts in front by finishing a quick counter-attack.
Town responded well in the remainder of the half and came close to levelling through Eliel Anku and George Glover.
In the second period, Sunderland equalised and maintained his fantastic form in front of goal, scoring his fifth goal in his last five appearances.
Town’s number ten had another chance later in the half as did fellow midfielders Trent Coulter and Liam Healey.
But, South Shields held on with Town having to settle for a well-deserved point which leaves them 3rd in the table.
