FC Halifax Town striker Adam Morgan believes determination and hard-work is the key to turning around The Shaymenโ€™s winless streak, following Halifaxโ€™s 4-0 defeat away to Hartlepool United.

Two quick-fire strikes inside the opening 10 minutes from the former EFL outfit decimated a shell-shocked Halifax, with a momentum shift in the second half not enough for The Shaymen to mount an unlikely comeback.

Despite the nature of defeat, Morgan asserted that Halifax canโ€™t dwell on past losses if theyโ€™re to bounce back and claim that elusive and much-sought after victory.

โ€œItโ€™s a tough defeat to take, but weโ€™ve got to move on as quickly as possible,โ€ Morgan said.

โ€œWe were definitely capable of nicking a goal before half-time, which wouldโ€™ve allowed us to settle down and assess the situation.

โ€œIt just wasnโ€™t meant to be today, but if we keep working hard then Iโ€™m sure our luck will change. I donโ€™t know what weโ€™ve got to work on at the minute to be honest, weโ€™re trying so many things, but nothing seems to be going for us now. For now, itโ€™s back to the drawing board and we go again on Saturday at home to Eastleigh.โ€

The former Liverpool youngster emerged from the bench in the final 20 minutes, and hopes his efforts in the dying embers suitably impressed Shaymen boss Billy Heath โ€“ having been out of favour and outside the starting lineup in recent weeks.

โ€œThe game was gone when I came on, but Iโ€™d like to think that I made an impact in the last few minutes from the bench. I tried to run around as much as possible and give everything that I had to show everyone how much I want to be in the team.

He added: โ€œItโ€™s frustrating sitting on the sidelines, no one wants to be a substitute โ€“ Iโ€™m no different. I wanted to show the manager in my short cameo that Iโ€™m worthy of a place in the starting eleven.โ€

A sensational string of results to begin Halifaxโ€™s debut National League campaign saw The Shaymen power up the fifth-tier standings, and Morgan is optimistic that a slice of luck and a positive attitude going forwards will prove vital to unlocking the teamโ€™s true footballing ability.

โ€œIโ€™m more than confident that we can get back to winning ways, we had a great start to the season and nothingโ€™s really changed โ€“ the minor things in this league can have such a huge effect on your results.

โ€œWeโ€™re on the end of a bad run at the minute, and the sooner we can get that win on the board the better. We need to try our hardest to keep our shape and make sure thereโ€™s a zero against our oppositionโ€™s name on the scoreboard, as I think our team will always score goals and make the difference going forwards.

โ€œWe started the season looking deadly on the break, and I think weโ€™ve been going away from that unfortunately. Itโ€™s hard at the minute, everyoneโ€™s head are down but weโ€™ve got to pick ourselves up and go again โ€“ we know how quickly football can change.โ€
