FC Halifax Town under-19โs manager Mark Trueman has said that he believes his side are improving every week after their latest victory in the National League North Alliance.
Halifax defeated ten-man Rochdale 7-0 in Rothwell with Ousman Cham bagging two whilst James Sunderland, Jack Knight, Eliel Anku, Liam Healey and Sam Clayton also found the back of the net.
The result gave Town their fourth straight league win of the season and Trueman believes itโs a signal of the continuing development of his young side.
โI think weโre improving each week which is the sign of a good team,โ said Trueman after the match.
โObviously, we did a lot better in the final third, scoring seven goals, and I thought we were just a little bit too strong for the opposition today.โ
โThe win was comfortable but the pleasing things out of today are that weโve created (chances), weโve scored some good goals, especially in the first-half when they were still putting us under pressure.โ
โI thought in the second-half it was comfortable, obviously they went down to ten men, so it was comfortable for us from then on.โ
Despite scoring 19 times in their last three league matches and conceding just one, Trueman has warned his side that tougher challenges lay ahead in the coming weeks.
โIt was quite comfortable for us (today) but now itโs all about how we prepare the players physiologically,โ continued Trueman.
โThey need to get themselves up for the next game because we donโt want to get caught cold and start slow against a good team because we could be punished.โ
Goalkeeper Carl Rushworth was forced off in the first-half after sustaining a wrist injury, meaning he joins winger Keelan Swales on the injury list.
Trueman gave updates on both promising youngsters. โItโs really disappointing for Carl (Rushworth),โ he said, โbecause heโs done really well in both training and in games and heโs was just coming back into the squad.
โItโs really disappointing but thatโs football. I think heโll recover from it and I think heโll push back on.โ
โKeelan (Swales) will get some results from the hospital soon. I think heโs due an MRI scan as well so weโre still just taking our time with him.โ
โBut, hopefully when we get these results back, heโll be (back in) maybe a couple of weeks but we donโt know at the minute what the injury is.โ
