New FC Halifax Town signing Josh Clackstone says that he cannot wait to get started, as he looks to make his debut for the Shaymen at home to Woking FC this weekend.

The 21 year old, who joins on a one month loan deal from Championship club Hull City, can play either as a centre-back or at right-back. Clackstone also gained football league experience last season during a loan spell at Notts County, where he made eight appearances.

Named on the bench for Hull Cityโ€™s 4-1 defeat to Chris Wilderโ€™s Sheffield United last time out, Clackstone was quickly introduced to his new teammates.

โ€œI was at training on Tuesday night and from what I can tell we have a good bunch of lads. The gaffer told me to just play simple so that we can get a win and start putting the points back on the tableโ€.

Clackstone joins fellow Tigers youngster Daniel Batty on loan with the Shaymen, along with other loan signings Dion Charles, Michael Duckworth and George Waring.

During his time with the Hull City under 23โ€™s, Clackstone cemented himself as a key figure within Jon Bealeโ€™s side, and even captained the side on several occasions.

With these qualities, Clackstone looks like he will be a valuable addition during his month stay with the Shaymen, who have the ability to extend the loan should they wish. For Clackstone, the opportunity to play first team football was one not to be missed.

โ€œI have had some experience when I played in League Two so I am guessing it will be similar. If we are winning then we will want to slow the game down whereas if we are losing we can speed up and get the ball in the right areasโ€ฆ hopefully we can do that.

โ€œI just want to be playing menโ€™s football. The under 23โ€™s is good but at the end of the day you want to be playing with people who have more experience and are older than yourself. That is the only way you are going to get betterโ€.

To listen to the full interview with Clackstone, head over to Shaymen TV for this weekโ€™s edition of The Shaymen Show tomorrow evening.
