Barrow: Supporters Club

Good afternoon, and welcome to you all. Today, I would particularly like to mention Jim McWheeney’s friends from the Blue Lamp pub in Barrow. We have had a warm reception there for the last two seasons now, and I would guess this has already been reciprocated in the Three Pigeons prior to today’s match!

Our trip to the Belle Vue Dogs last Saturday went very well, at least regarding the number of participants and the standard of meals in the restaurant. Just a shame the stupid animals I picked as potential winners steadfastly refused to live up to expectations, although I am well aware that some other attendees did fare rather better than myself. Crocker did a sterling organisational job, and £110 was raised for Club funds. I can certainly say I am looking forward to next year’s trip already.

A seasonal reminder now that our Supporters Club programme shop is open beneath the East Stand (access from outside the ground) prior to every home match. Who wouldn’t enjoy receiving a football programme or two in their Christmas stocking, I ask? Feel free to call in on Crocker and Phil Knott anytime. The shop has recently received a significant donation of matchday programmes from Laurie Plumbe, who continues his recovery from illness. I would like to express our thanks to Laurie, and of course take the opportunity to wish him well for the future.

Although I try to attend meetings of the Yorkshire branch of the Football Supporters Federation (FSF), unfortunately I couldn’t make it to the most recent one, held in Hull. The FSF campaigns on such issues as safe seating and ticket pricing, and I shall be giving updates on these matters in the Macclesfield programme notes in a fortnight’s time.

For now, please get behind the team, and let’s hope today might be the day we end our recent run of poor form.

See you soon, Kit.
