FC Halifax Town manager Billy Heath spoke to ShaymenTV after victory over Thackley in the West Riding County Cup, and believes that his side could have started a lot better.
โIt could have been better, we didn’t start the game great again. We conceded early on, but these games are sometimes difficult because you are in on a hiding into nothing.โ Heath said.
โIn the end we got there, itโs nice to have a win in the column.โ The boss added.
Heath spoke about the type of game that it was for his players and how he managed to get players who are not regular first team players some time game time.
โIt was nice to get some players some football who have not played for a while, so it served its purpose.โ
Ross Barrows currently on loan gaining first team football was back for the match at Thackley and his manager was proud of his versatility as well as his play.
โIt is difficult for Ross (Ross Barrows) with him being a right full back and we have had to play him left tonight, he has equipped himself really well.โ
Jake Hibbs, who has not featured too much for Heathโs side this season was able to have game time in the cup game and certainly did no harm to his chances in later games this season with a man of the match performance, Heath spoke to ShaymenTV about Hibbsโs work rate.
โI thought Hibbsy (Jake Hibbs) was outstanding from start to finish.โ He said.
โHe made some really good choices and his quality was really good. He had bags of energy, even in the last five or six minutes, he was first class.โ Heath added.
FC Halifax Townโs opponents came to play a game of football and made Town work for the win, Heath spoke about the home sideโs effort.
โI thought they were really good tonight, they did not sit with men behind the ball, they played their normal game.โ Heath said.
โGetting caught on the break for the second one was the most disappointing thing of the night, we are disappointed about that but all credit to Thackley, it was a great game,โ he added.
With no competitive game this weekend, Heath spoke about what is planned for the team to keep the fitness up in the group.
โTry to get a game, we are trying to get a game for Saturday wherever it may be, we do need a game. We just need to get a couple answers back. There are a lot of players who didn’t play tonight, and we need to get them playing too.โ
Off the pitch, this week is big for the club and the town. Billy Heath spoke about the Harveyโs launch on Thursday and how much it means to be able to give something back to the community.
โIt is like anything, the players are all coming, every single one of them is coming. It is pleasing to be able to give something back to the community and then hopefully have a good training session and get things ready for Saturday.โ
