FC Halifax Town are back in league action at the MBi Shay Stadium today, with the campaign continuing with the visit of Torquay United.

The Gulls will be looking to get off the bottom of the league and leapfrog Solihull Moors which they would do if they get the better of Town on Saturday and other results go their way.

Current Form

Torquayโ€™s start to the season could not have been much worse, losing ten of their fifteen games this season, drawing four and winning just the one which they got at the start of this month with the thrashing of Maidstone at home 4-0.

However, since the high scoring win, Torquay have struggled, losing in their last league game against Dover and then being knocked out of the FA Cup in the Fourth Qualifying stage to Aldershot.

Key Man

Ruari Keating would be a man to watch this weekend as he is the joint top scorer for the club this season. Another man who adds experience to the Torquay side is John-Paul Pitman who has also scored three goals this season, the joint highest for the club.

Keating started out at Sligo Rovers in Ireland and then moved to Finn Harps before joining the Gulls earlier this year.

Pitman on the other hand, started at Aston Villa as a youth player before moving to Nottingham Forest where he signed a professional deal but failed to make any appearances. He then went on to play for a number of clubs including Doncaster Rovers and Wyccombe Wanderers before signing for Torquay United from Harrogate Town where he had a stint after leaving Grimsby Town.

Last Meeting

You need to look back as far as 2002 for the last meeting of the two sides, Torquay were beaten at home to Town, before the reformation. The final result was 2-4.

The goals for Town came from four different players on the day for the away side. Paul Stoneman managed to equalise for Halifax after Ryan Ashford put the Gulls ahead.

It was one way traffic for the remainder of the match, with Paul Harsley, Craig Middleton and Matthew Clarke getting the goals for Town. Marcus Richardson managed to get a consolation for his side with a goal in the 71st minute of the match.

The reverse fixture in that season, Town again the victors of the game with a 2-0 win against Torquay United, Craig Middleton getting on the scoresheet once more and then Ian Fitzpatrick putting the game beyond reach of the away side in the 57th minute.

Team News:

Matty Kosylo is back available for selection ahead of this weekends match after serving his one match suspension against Tranmere Rovers in the previous FA Cup encounter. Tom Denton still remains suspended for this game as he serves the second of his three game suspension following his red card away to Boreham wood.

Scott McManus could be a doubt after his neck related injury in the previous game.

Match Officials:

Referee: Simeon Lucas

Assistants Jack Nield, Adam Burgess
