1. Tranmere Rovers Football Club was founded back in 1884 and is based in Birkehead in the North West.ย 

2. When the club was originally founded, it went by the name of Belmont FC.

3. They were a member of the football league until only recently, when they were relegated from League Two to the National League in 2015. This being the first time they have spent time out of the football league.

4. They reached the League Cup final in 2000 and played the final ever League Cup final at the old Wembley in front of more than 74,000 people. However, they were defeated 2-1 by Leicester.

5. Tranmere are commonly known as just โ€˜Roversโ€™ or the โ€˜Super White Armyโ€™.

6. Roversโ€™ home stadium is named Prenton Park and has an impressive capacity of 16,567. They have been there since 1912.

7. Although Tranmere are geographically very close to Liverpool and Everton, their time in the lower leagues has meant that they have rarely met either club and have formed rivalries with other clubs against whom they regularly compete. According to the Football Fans Census of 2003, Tranmere fans listed Bolton Wanderers as their main rivals.

8. During the 1980โ€™s, the Super White Army got to the play-off final to reach the premier league in 3 successive seasons. They were unsuccessful in all 3 games and have never been in Englandโ€™s top division.

9. The clubโ€™s top scorer is Ian Muir. Muir played for Rovers 393 times and scored an impressive 180 goals during that period.

10. They are managed by former player Micky Mellon.
