Matty Kosylo has said that momentum is building in the FC Halifax Town squad after their 2-0 victory over Guiseley secured back-to-back wins in the National League for The Shaymen.

A superb first-half strike from Kosylo and Matty Brown’s bullet header gave Halifax all three points at The MBi Shay Stadium and earned Town successive wins following last week’s triumph away to Solihull Moors.

After four winless matches to start to the season, Kosylo feels that Town are now beginning to adjust to the challenges of non-league’s top flight. “Now we’re getting a bit of momentum” said Kosylo, “so I think we’re slowly getting into our stride.”

“I think we started well. I think if you look at the team we played (on the opening day of the season), we played Aldershot and they’ve put more than two (goals) past most teams. We could have done something about both goals that day so it was disappointing.

“But I don’t think we’ve done badly, we’ve got two draws against teams who will be comfortable in this division.”

“Considering what everyone’s been predicting, I think it was a six-pointer today, even as early as this in the season. It was a big win for us. A big win that gives us momentum as well going into Monday.”

Town’s number seven was also full of praise for fellow goal-scorer and club captain, Brown, who headed in his first Halifax goal. “Browny’s looking in really good shape”, Kosylo said. “We talk a lot outside of football and he’s really on his game now. He’s got the armband, he’s got more responsibility and it’s showing on the pitch.

“Garner or Reilly or whoever has stepped in at the side of him has been brilliant as well so it gives us a base so that as long as it stays 0-0 we can go and nick games and as you can see we’re starting to do that now.”

It’s a quick turn-around for Town now who travel to Gateshead this Monday afternoon. But Kosylo is optimistic that The Shaymen can earn another victory against the top-six side.

“I think we’ll just rest and recover now,” Kosylo added. “I think we’ll speak to the gaffer either today or tomorrow and we’ll see what we’ll go with on Monday.

“But, we’re not worried if we go and we just worry about ourselves. We’ll have a brief look at them and get an idea of what they’re about, then I’m confident that we can go there and get a result.”
