FC Halifax Town begin their pre-season campaign tomorrow with a short five mile trip down to Dual Seal Stadium, home of Northern Premier League Division One North side Brighouse Town.

The game, scheduled for 15.00pm kick-off will be the first of seven friendly matches the Shaymen will play before they begin their 17/18 season at home to Aldershot Town upon their return to the Vanarama National after earning promotion through a 2-1 extra-time win against Chorley in the Promotion Final in May 2017.

Players to watch
FC Halifax Town – Connor Oliver

One player every Halifax fan will have their eyes on is new signing Connor Oliver who, on Monday, signed a one-year-deal at the Shay from Vanarama National North side North Ferriby United. Presuming he is fit and picked for the squad, the midfielder will be on course to make his debut for the Shaymen and will give fans a chance to see what their new recruit can do on the pitch.

Brighouse Town – New signings

With several departures from Brighouse’s squad there have been several incomings also. Matty Ord, Royale Johnson, Danny Ramsey and Reece Treasure are all new arrivals at Giles Road and players that will be looking to impress new manager Vill Powell on their first outing in the orange of Brighouse. With the new recruits being brought into to either bolster the strike or midfield department, the fans of Brighouse should be excited by the attacking prowess certain players have to offer and will hopefully showcase in tomorrow’s match.

Current Form

Saturday’s hosts were almost undefeated in their final six games but lost 3-1 away to Clitheroe on the final day of the season, which in total meant they ended their last six games with three wins, one draw and of course a final day loss. Having not lost a game at home this calendar year, Brighouse will be looking to prevent Halifax from ending that record, whilst the Shaymen will be looking to put an end to it tomorrow.

For Town, they remained undefeated in their final six games with five wins and a draw, and one of those of course being the play-off final game against Chorley to gain promotion. If they return to action with that same hunger and perform like they did in the latter stages of last season, a challenge awaits Brighouse Town.

Last meeting

As many FC Halifax Town fans will be aware, the last time the Shaymen took on Brighouse Town was just under a year ago when, like tomorrow, they visited Giles Road for the first pre-season friendly of the 16/17 season. That day, the Shaymen ran riot coming out as worthy winners, after beating the hosts 8-1 in front of a crowd just over six hundred and seventy-three. The Shaymen then went on to win four and draw three of their other seven pre-season friendlies and therefore remained undefeated – read the match report here

So, can the Shaymen have another successful pre-season and continue their winning ways at Giles Road? Or can Brighouse right their wrongs from last season’s meeting and continue their undefeated home record in 2017?

We’ll find out tomorrow.
