FC Halifax Town sunk to their tenth defeat of the season, as they were compressively beaten three goals to nil against Woking.
The Visitors went ahead after just ten minutes, when Daniel Holman tapped in a Kadell Daniel cross. The Cards, who had the better of the chances throughout the game, made it two nil just before the hour. They were awarded a free kick just outside the box and John Goddard stepped up and curled it past Glennon, who had no chance in the Halifax net. Glennon was beaten again just three minutes later and again was given no chance. Goddard hit a fantastic strike from 30 yards out and extended the lead.
Woking started the game brightly and it was the visitors who had the first chance of the game. Goddard broke in to the box and looked to have a shot on strike, but Matty Brown reacted well and blocked the shot wide of the post.
The early pressure paid of for the Cards and they broke the deadlock after just ten minutes. Daniel got past Scott McManus on the right hand side and crossed for Goddard, who arrived at the back post and tapped in unchallenged.
The Shaymen’s first strike at goal didn’t come until after 26 minutes. Sean Tuton took the ball down the left before dragging his shot just wide of the left hand post.
Just before half time Tuton again nearly got an equaliser. The striker wriggled away from two Woking Defenders but before he was able to strike at goal Jake Caprice got back to block the shot out for a corner.
Halifax came closest to scoring from a Kieran Sadlier striker. Bencherif brought down a long ball and played a ball to Sadlier who struck 25 yards out, but Jake Cole parried the ball away. Jordan Burrow tried to follow up but he was unable to get his strike on goal.
In the second half Woking again started well and would of doubled their lead if it wasn’t for a great double save from Matt Glennon. After saving the initial strike who got up well and tipped wide a strike from Murtagh.
The Cards did double their lead just before the hour. After been awarded a free kick 20 yards out, Goddard took it and hit a great curling effort giving Glennon no chance.
Just three minutes later Woking made it three. Holman, who had been a constant threat all afternoon, got the ball 25 yards out and after skipping clear of his man, hit a great strike that left Glennon motionless.
Before been substituted Holman had one final strike on goal. He broke clear of Kevin Roberts down the right and struck at goal, but Glennon was on hand to parry the strike to safety.
Kingsley James almost got a consolation goal for Halifax in added time. He broke in to the box down the left hand side and tried to squeeze the ball home from a narrow angle, but Cole tipped the ball for a corner.
That results leaves Halifax in 23rd place five points behind Boreham Wood who are just above the relegation zone. The Victory was Woking’s first win in five games and they move up to 12th place.
